Camryn Makenzie Smith, 23, of Bowling Green, passed away at her residence on Saturday, June 1, 2024. The Bowling Green native was the daughter of Wendy Daryl Mallory and Michael Dale Gilliam.

Camryn, known by most as Cam or Cami, will be remembered fondly as a kid growing up in downtown Bowling Green, hanging out at her mom's salon and being loved by the whole community. She emanated a gentle kindness that was palpable to even the smallest creature. Animals were drawn to her tender spirit, and she loved and cuddled them all.

In her stunning sapphire eyes, there was a twinkle that perhaps appeared most when she was doing art, the kind she expressed on everything from her shoes to the canvases that filled her apartment. She had a goofy side and loved to make people laugh, usually laughing first at herself. With those beautiful blue eyes, she noticed the often overlooked and outcast, and no matter how she viewed herself, she made them feel their worth, and they all loved her for it.

She loved her mother, her greatest friend and advocate, her sisters and brothers, grandmother, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, friends, and above all, her one-year-old son. She found incredible strength from her overflowing love for her beautiful baby, Braylen. Camryn was a wonderful mother to her little boy and gave Braylen all of herself every second she was with him.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, June 7 at Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday, June 7 at the funeral home.

Camryn is survived by her son, Braylen; her mother Wendy Mallory (David Logsdon) and father Michael Dale Gilliam; her sisters Paige Gilliam, Carley Gilliam, Cynthia Hazel (Jessie Vibbert), and brothers Taylor Gilliam (Lindsay) and Wesley Smith; her grandmother Sharon Wheat; her grandfather Richard Wilson; paternal aunt, Ashley Wells (Adam) and maternal uncle, Scott Bertram (Stacie); many nieces and nephews and extended relatives; and is preceded in death by her grandmother Milissa Fleming-Wilson and Grandfather, James Fleming.

Memorial funds have been established to benefit Camryn's son, Braylen. Donations can be made at any FirstBank branch in Bowling Green or Scottsville to an account in the name of Wendy D.
