Bob Hovious, 87, of Bowling Green passed away Monday, September 16, 2024 at his home. The Knifley, Kentucky native was a son of the late Robert L. Hovious, Sr. and Madeline Jones Hovious. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra B. Hovious and brother, Doug Hovious.
Mr. Hovious was a graduate of Bowling Green High School and attended Broadway United Methodist Church, Greenwood Campus. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp with a rank of Sergeant. For over 50 years, he was the President and General Manager of Powr-Lite Electric Supply. Bob was the Jaycee's chairman of the Christmas Parade and the Soap Box Derby. He served on the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce, was the chairman of the Crippled Children's Association. His memberships included the Bowling Green Rotary Club, the Bowling Green Country Club and he was a founding and lifelong member of the Liars Club. He was actively involved on the CHC Board and The Medical Center Board where he served 17 years as Chairman of the Board of The Medical Center.
Survivors include a son, Robert Gregg Hovious (Priss) of Louisville; a daughter, Laura Hovious Lewis (Binks) of Nashville; a sister, Judy Smith (Chuck) of Bowling Green; four grandchildren, Kate Hovious, Robert Hovious and Sam Hovious all of Louisville and Madeline Littleton Giles (Jake) of Nashville; sister-in-law Nan McElroy of Venice, Italy.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 am Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 and again from 9:00 am to 10:00 am Wednesday at Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home.
