Bettie Day Smith Pruitt Flener, 87, of Bowling Green passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at the Medical Center. The Smiths Grove native was born on July 26, 1929 to the late Clarence and Maude Totty Smith. Mrs. Flener was preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond Leo Pruitt; her second husband, Osburn Ray Flener; and a son, Michael Ray Pruitt.

She graduated from WKU with an Associate's degree, and retired from WKU from the Office of Personnel. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Gideon's East Camp, and Daughters of the American Revolution. She was also an author.

Mrs. Flener is survived by five sons, Mark Vincent Pruitt, Brian Edwin Pruitt, Matthew Virgil Pruitt, Mark Hill Flener (Betsy) and Samuel Ray Flener (Sheila); two daughters, Penny Marsh and Lou Ann Qualls; seventeen grandchildren, Melanie Wilson (Patrick), Stephanie Ferguson (Matt), Laura Meeks, Michelle Thomas (Bradley), Melissa Spencer (James), Brad Pruitt, Sidney Day Pruitt, Kyle Young (Amanda) and Jeff Gulledge (Crystal), Jeffrey Marsh, Laura Ptak (Tom), Tommy Qualls, Steven Qualls, Daniel Tyler Flener, Noah Christopher Flener, Sarah Kathryn Pruitt (Matt), and Samantha Jane Baker (Mica); and eighteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled for noon on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 PM on Friday, January 6, 2017, and again on Saturday from 11:00 AM until service time.
