Betsy Monroe, 86, of Bowling Green, passed away on July 22, 2026 at The Medical Center of Bowling Green. The Halfway, KY native was the daughter of the late Marjorie Spears Johnson. In addition to her mother, she is preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Owen Monroe; daughter, Teena Michelle Monroe; sister, Sedell Johnson Neal; and her brother, Rex Logan Johnson.

Mrs. Monroe graduated from Nashville General Hospital School of Nursing and went on to serve as a registered nurse. She was a member of Hillvue Heights Church and Edgewood Baptist Church in Hopkinsville, KY.

She is survived by her two sons, Tracey Monroe (Kathy) and Jonathan Monroe; five grandchildren, Kirsten Monroe, Madison Monroe Churchwell, Bailey Rose Monroe, Colby Monroe, and Bailey Cabaniss; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28 at Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home with private burial to follow in Ancestral Haven Memorial Gardens in Hopkinsville, KY. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28 at the funeral home.
