Avanelle McGinnis Young, 101, of Bowling Green, KY entered into rest on Monday, May 20, 2019. Avanelle was born October 31, 1917 in Bowling Green, KY. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arch Cooper McGinnis and Okie Pearl McGinnis. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband of 81 years, Mota Eli (M.E.) Young; siblings, Lavelle Miller, Elizabeth Miller, James McGinnis, Arch Cooper McGinnis, Jr. and Juanita Hudson.
Mrs. Young was a homemaker, factory worker, sales clerk at Woolco and sales clerk for Castner Knott for thirteen years. She was a graduate of Richardsville High School in 1936. She was a member of Lehman Avenue Church of Christ. Her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ was evident to all. She attended Lehman Church of Christ with her husband, Mota Eli (M.E.) Young where they enjoyed many years of friendship and worship. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend.
She was deeply loved by her survivors, her two sons, Royce Young (Johnnie), Robert Young (Phyllis); one daughter, Linda Turbeville, (wife of the late John Turbeville); six grandchildren, Tim Young (Angela), Dr. Cindy Young (Rob Gouvas), Jeremy Young (Amanda), Joshua Young (Miranda), Johanna Young, and Seth Turbeville; nine great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Audrey Roberts, several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
A heartfelt thank you to her caregivers; Beatrice Kennedy, Alice Carr, Beth Villalobos, Sierra Vilfer, Wanda Jones, Charleana Murrell, and others.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home. Additional visitation Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
