Anna Fleming Mefford, 86, of Bowling Green passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at her home.
The Huntsville native was born September 16, 1930, a daughter of the late Oren and Bernice Vaughn Fleming. She was preceded in death by her husband, Denzel Mefford and sister, Maudrie Phelps.
Mrs. Mefford was a loving mother and a devoted wife who loved her family deeply. She was member of Hawesville United Methodist Church where she was involved in the United Methodist Women's organization. She later became an active member of Christ United Methodist Church in Bowling Green. She was an avid Western fan and loved her Lady Toppers.
Survivors include one son, Marty Richard Mefford; one daughter, Jana Mefford Layne; one brother, Jerry Fleming and his wife, Mary; one sister, Erma Van Fleet and her husband, Frank; two grandchildren, Adam Whitt and his fiancé, Katie Carpenter and Tara Whitt Puškar and her husband, Ervin; numerous nephews and nieces who she dearly loved.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 11:00 am, Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Christ United Methodist Church with burial to follow at the Huntsville United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, July 21, 2017 at Christ United Methodist Church and again from 9:00 am to 11:00 am Saturday at the church. Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Christ United Methodist Church, Hawesville United Methodist Church, Hilltopper Athletic Foundation, or the American Heart Association.
