Alicia Ruth Rawlins McFarland, 86, of Bowling Green, passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2018.  The Bowling Green native was born May 18, 1931.  She was valedictorian of the Bowling Green High School Class of 1949 and received her bachelor's and master's degrees from Western Kentucky University.

She was a medical librarian at Martin Army Hospital, Fort Benning, GA; Brooke General Hospital, Fort Sam Houston, TX; and Greenview Hospital, Bowling Green, KY.  She was a librarian at Potter Gray, Eleventh Street School, Parker-Bennett, St. Joseph School, and Western Kentucky University.  She was a teacher at the Presidio of San Francisco, CA and Heidelberg American School, Heidelberg, Germany.

She was a member of the Larths Literary Club, Bowling Green Garden Club, and The Presbyterian Church.

She was the daughter of the late Arline Perkins Rawlins and Samuel Perry Rawlins.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Joseph Hardin McFarland; three daughters, Jane McFarland Coverdale of Bowling Green, Catherine McFarland Kirkwood of Bowling Green, and Susan McFarland Liske (Gregory) of Elizabethtown; three grandchildren, Melinda Catherine Fry (Brent) of Knoxville, TN, Mary Catherine Kirkwood of Lexington, and Drew Allen Liske of Lakewood, CO; and two great-grandchildren, Mason Rawlins Fry and Lillian Grace Fry of Knoxville, TN.
